Method of payment: bank transfer

Your order must be paid exclusively by bank transfer, in accordance with Article 7 of our Terms of Sale.

The bank transfer is a payment instrument which consists of transferring a sum of money from one bank account to another bank account, through a bank acting on the order of the debtor (in this case, the client) and for the benefit of the creditor (in this case, the seller). It is not necessary for these two accounts to be opened in the same bank or in the same country.

For the settlement of commercial transactions concluded through its website, “Le Magasin de Lectures” has opted to accept only this method of payment, because it offers the following advantages:

  • bank transfers are easy to use;
  • bank transfers are accepted worldwide as method of payment: everyone with a current bank account anywhere in the world can use bank transfers;
  • the money transferred by bank transfers is ensured and protected through sophisticated control and security protocols, such as SWIFT (Society For Worldwide Interbank Financial Telecommunication), the most popular system in the world for that matter;
  • with the use of an “offline” payment instrument, such as bank transfers, it is not necessary for the client to enter on our website his bank data nor any information related to his debit or credit cards; therefore, by requesting payment by bank transfer, we protect you one hundred per cent against the risk of your bank data being intercepted by hackers on the occasion of your visit to our website(*).

In practice, it is only after receiving our email containing our “invitation to pay” that you should complete your order by transferring the amount specified on that “invitation to pay” in compliance with the following instructions:

1. Your order will be shipped only after we receive notification from our bank of your payment of the full amount specified in the “invitation to pay” attached to our email. This amount includes the selling price of the ordered goods plus packaging and shipping costs determined according to our shipping cost grid.

| Caution! |
Eventual customs taxes and import duties are, in any event, to be paid by you and you are solely responsible for submitting the appropriate declarations and payment as requested by the relevant authorities.

Similarly, the costs of your Internet connection to gain access to our online catalogues are fully borne by you.

2. You must list as communication on your bank transfer the reference specified on our email containing our “invitation to pay”.

3. You have a period of 10 calendar days to make your payment by bank transfer, starting from the day after the day of dispatch of our email containing our “invitation to pay”. In case of lack of payment in full after this period, we reserve the right to cancel your order and relist for sale its content.

If your bank account is opened in one of the states of the SEPA zone(**)

4. It’s imperative to denominate the amount of your bank transfer in euros (EUR | ). All our prices are, moreover, listed only in euros (EUR | ). Therefore, if your bank account operates in another currency, you must ask your bank to execute the currency conversion and all exchange charges are entirely supported by you.

5. To be valid, your bank transfer must abide by the following guidelines prescribed for the SEPA payments:

  1. You must specify our bank account number (“the recipient”) in its IBAN(***) format: BE08‑0688‑9564‑8113;
  2. You must also specify the BIC(****) code (also called Swift code) of our bank account: GKCCBEBB (Belfius Banque S.A. | Boulevard Pachéco, 44 | 1000 Brussels | Belgium);
  3. You must specify our complete address: Le Magasin de Lectures | DUBOIS Christophe | Rue Bois Laiterie, 72 | 5170 Profondeville | Belgium;
  4. Lastly, the bank account from which your transfer is issued (“the payer”) must also listed in its IBAN format(***). If you don’t know the latter, ask your bank for it.

6. The SHA rule (Shared Costs) applies to all SEPA payments: the payer (you) and the recipient (us) bear their own transaction costs as computed by their respective banks.

| It’s important to note that European bank transfers between member countries of the SEPA zone are as easy, safe and fast as national bank transfers, and with the same costs as the latter.

If your bank account is opened in a country outside the SEPA zone(**)

4. It’s imperative to denominate the amount of your bank transfer in euros (EUR | ). All our prices are, moreover, listed only in euros (EUR | ). Therefore, since your bank account operates in another currency than the euro, you must ask your bank to execute the currency conversion and all exchange charges are entirely supported by you.

5. You must specify our bank account number (“the recipient”) in its IBAN(***) format: BE08‑0688‑9564‑8113.

6. You must also specify the BIC(****) code (also called Swift code) of our bank account: GKCCBEBB (Belfius Banque S.A. | Boulevard Pachéco, 44 | 1000 Brussels | Belgium).

7. You must specify our complete address: Le Magasin de Lectures | DUBOIS Christophe | Rue Bois Laiterie, 72 | 5170 Profondeville | Belgium.

8. If you submit your bank transfer in paper format, you must specify your bank account number in its complete and absolutely correct form.

9. Lastly, you must specify:

  1. your whole name and address;
  2. as reason of payment: the purchase of imported goods;
  3. as allocation rule of the bank transaction costs: SHA (Shared Costs).

| As provided for under Article 6, §4 of our Terms of Sale, we do not cover any the costs for which you are invoiced by your bank for the execution of your bank transfer. Whence, we do not accept the BEN rule (Beneficiary Costs). Nor for fairness do we require application of the OUR rule (All the costs for the Payer). Therefore, we ask you to strictly apply the SHA rule (Shared Costs).
